Small portions, small prices and a well known cuisine makes "Uncle Kitchen" a winner. You have to see the queues on the road waiting to get in to get to really know how they have grown over the years. Standard "Indo-Chineese" fare served is consistently good, with the usual suspects - fried rice, lollipops, spring rolls, chilli chicken, etc. Real VFM joint. The only problem is the drive to get there on the ever crowded Malad Link Road. Next time will try their outlet on the old Mumbai-Pune highway.

I was hooked on to their first restaurant in 7 bungalows Andheri, when I first went there. A hip-hop casual where you can drop in with friends for a couple of drinks as well as a great dinner, or even entertain business associates over lunch. Had to always wait for a table as it is packed most times of the day. "Hungarian Ghoulash" soup, their sizzlers, the "Archies" types of food (burgers, milk shakes, etc) ensure a steady customer base of the young and the "not-so-young" people. One of my favorite hangouts.

Having eaten at most of the Delhi Darbar's - Colaba, Grant Road, this one is quite small. But the good is big on taste. Consistently good and impressive (waiters using palmtops to send orders from your table to the kitchen, it is VFM. Dabba Gosht, Murgh Makhani and the predominantly Muslim food does justice to the stomach. The tandoori rotis, nans are soft and delivered hot to your table. Biryanis are a must taste here. Overall - Good

Olympia is a restaurant which is a " strictly eat and move on" kind, serving some excellent Moghlai food. Meant for the bachelors, taxi drivers, workers, etc you work and live around Colaba, it is a boon for them as a full meal will probably cost under 50 bucks a head. And it's not for a vegetarian meal - only a few mixed veg dishes and dal fry available, the meal cost is for a full non-veg meal. The special " mutton masala" is an eternal favorite of mine and I think 80% of the guys eating there. The biryanis are great and made in the eternal Mughlai style of the North - not oily and with potatoes. The " 1/2 rice dal mar ka" ends the meal for most of the other patrons who can't afford th biryani. Cost of an average dish (non veg): 25-30 Rs. No wonder the owners haven't changed anything for the past 30 years! Who wants to change a successful thing going!! By the way, did I mention the "nalli gosht and ande ka burjees with their special pani kum double chai" for breakfast. Ah! Thats another of their glories!

If you miss the Bade Miyan kind of food - Zaika tries to replicate it. A they do a pretty good job of it! Although not as good as the original, the owners have a "tava food" and a good selection of "bhuna stuff" - baida roti, kababs etc. They also have a selection of Chinese food. Good VFM and is in good quantity.

Hadn't eaten tibetian food for a long time since the time I used to eat at the tibetian camps near the University in Delhi. Only knew about the soup "thupka" a wholesome broth with noodles, meat and veggies, its a meal in itself. However, on the recommendations of the owner - a jolly good guy - had the barbecued spare ribs (not on the menu) and the chicken flat noodles. Couldn't finish both - had to pack them for later. Both were seriously good but the ribs were excellent. The prawns momos were as the momos should be - soft and juicy. Tibetian food is an acquired taste though - not for all.

Haven't eaten in their premises, but my children have grown up eating their "lollipops, chicken fried rice, hakka noodles, and the rest of their food . Huge quantities, it is a favorite on our list of places for us to order home delivery, as it can feed the whole family in 500 bucks - wholesome. Young owners ensure good, consistent quality and was pleasantly suprised to receive a dinner invitation to their newly opened Indian Restaurant "Spice Cottage" opp Cosmopolitan college, DN Nagar. Good PR work and nice of them to remember their regular customers.

Totally avoidable!!@! Lousy food, worse prices, worst service, and since we were late, had to watch the staff eating at the adjacent table. Whew...!

Used to eat here when they were a small 2 table restaurant in the gully's of Adarsh Nagar. Strictly went there for my love for bengali food. Okayish food - very small quantities - but extremely good personalized service by the hosts who also own it. A charming couple of a Gujarati lady married to a Bengali, run this place. She is the one who also cooks the food and speaks excellent Bengali. Quite pricey for the quantity served. If you love you "Hilsa and your Mangsho meat, with some luchis" then this is the place. Haven't been to the new place, though.

A favorite of mine to conduct "business meetings" with my business associates over breakfast. Also a favorite with families meeting each other for marriage "alliances". You know, when suddenly you see a boy and a girl break from the group and sit in a far away 2 seater table discussing their "compatibility". Regular South Indian food - very good "kanchipuram idli", some good chinese snacks - chilli cheese toast, gold coin and the usual dosa and uttapams. Packed for lunch and dinner with kitty parties, families and businessman and as well tired shoppers from "Shoppers Stop" opposite. Moderatel Expensive for a South India joint but nevertheless VFM.
