Urban Tadka Restaurant - Mumbai

This place was superb when it was new. Presently the sheen is lost a bit. The food had always been the talking point. Ambience was fresh in the beginning but nowadays there are many new places with exciting ambience. So what is UT is left with is food and service. Service has gone a shade down since. The place also smells of stale food at times which was never there before. I guess it is time to shape up..

ok food!! Nimbu chicken is good something different to try!! naans are soft,dal is excellent!! It is advisory not to visit this place on weekends its just a 40 seater and the waiting duration is 1.5hrs.....no reservations are taken and its first cum first serve!!

Oh! Urban Tadka. One word sums it up - Excellent. Consistently good food! Their "Nimbu Chicken" being their signature dish, the robust curries - although not authentic North India - are good and plenty. The drinks menu - named very "innovatively", the wonderful ambience and the regular spotting of the tinsel crowd, all make it a good and excellent evening out experience. No reservations taken - you have to wait for an hour sometimes, but the wait seems worthwhile. The waiters at the table, however, need a refresher course on "waiting" - no pun intended.

Why did I rate this place only 3 stars? The food is excellent (try the nimbu chicken and the desi chilly chicken), the drinks innovative (macho man, ganna singh), and the ambience rustic and charming... 2 very big reasons - the place gets crowded very quickly, leading to so-so service and they don't take reservations (just doesnt make sense to me). Sirjee, shape up - the public in Mumbai is very fickle when it comes to eating out, there are 100s of choices...

Good Food, but too congested & sloppy service. One would never think these are the same guys that run Pop Tates also.

everyone likes this place and the food but somehow i found it to be ok. i found it to be a crowded place and the tables are too close to each other. Also, the reason for me rating it ok is that the service was not too good the day we went there.

Great food great ambience great cocktails. Wait sucks ..weekends you might have to wait for anywhere between 1 to 3 hours. Prices very very reasonable. ganna singh cocktail is great also aloo paneer starter is great.
